The Gojino women's cooperative
The items embroidered with the art of embroidery called “Patte” were made by a women's cooperative called "Gojino",
Gojino is located in the Kerman region of Iran and works to help reduce agricultural pressure in the area and decrease water exploitation.
The women of this cooperative addressed the problem of water in agriculture and the dry aqueduct in an original way. When the first women founded the cooperative in 2013, many men did not agree.
The facilitator who followed them put a video camera at their disposal and in front of it the women "came clean", including the problems with their husbands who didn't want them to go out. A director then edited a short film titled "Castle" which won first prize at the 2017 "Thessaloniki Documentary Festival" in The Docs in progress section.

Following this success, women have become increasingly stronger, capable of supporting their own project. And they managed to purchase equipment that allowed them to clean the aqueduct, improving the water situation. Thanks to this path, the women have effectively changed the "social level of women" in their area.
On our 2019 saffron trip to Iran, together with the travelers we went to visit the women of the cooperative at their headquarters.
